IPad is well ahead of its second-place competitor with e-books
Looking at future market share for e-book readers, the iPad, with 40 percent, is well ahead of its second-place competitor, Amazon’s Kindle, which is expected to come in around 28 percent of Sony VGP-BPS10A battery . Barnes and Noble’s Nook is down at 6 percent, and the nearly forgotten Sony Reader comes in at just 1 percent.
But obviously, the iPad is much more than an e-book reader, as ChangeWave’s survey also demonstrates. Likely buyers were asked to list their top uses for the iPad, and reading e-books comes in third, after surfing the Web and checking email of apple a1060 battery . Of course, you should approach all consumer surveys with at least a little skepticism. After all, a survey released a month ago showed that people’s interest in the iPad declined significantly after Apple’s announcement.
The survey doesn’t address how the iPad will impact the burgeoning market for tablet computers. But in one possible cautionary point for Apple, one in four likely iPad buyers state they will hold off on the purchase of another Apple product to get their hands on the iPad. After all, there’s only so much disposable income to go around.
In its latest incarnation, it’s a paperback-esque ‘digital journal’ running? good old Windows 6 CE. Each Tegra-powered Courier will have dedicated cloud storage for images, documents, calendar items and contacts for apple a1045 battery . Engadget reckons it will also come with handwriting recognition, built-in camera and microphone jack, and form the centrepiece of a Microsoft ebook reader ecosystem when it launches in the autumn.
I’m not entirely convinced by that last info-nugget. At a meeting in Redmond last year, Microsoft’s Chief Research Officer, Craig Mundie, and gadget supremo Robbie Bach pointed to rapidly improving netbooks as potential spoilers for ebooks and said that Microsoft would ‘hesitate’ to launch a reader if it couldn’t scale up to a major business of Sony VGP-BPS10 battery . With the iPad arriving next month, it looks like Microsoft might have hesitated just a shade too long.
